The Cour de la Fontaine

Closed on three sides and overlooking the Carp Lake to the south, this courtyard takes its name from the fountain which, in its current incarnation, dates from the Empire. The courtyard is bordered to the west by Gabriel’s Grand Pavilion (1750), the Queen Mothers’ Wing (1558-1565), to the north by the wing of the Francis I Gallery (16th, 17th & 19th century) and Primaticcio’s Belle-Cheminée Wing (c.1565-1570).
